Fear School is an intensive training program that teaches your veteran and newbie actors the knowledge, skills and abilities they need to perform at their best. The program consists of 20 topics ranging from improv to dialogue to movement and much more. More than 25 exercises get your actors to actually demonstrate they know the material. Fear School is not reading from your employee handbook!
The average time to complete Fear School is between 6 and 8 hours, but it can vary depending on how many actors are in a single session.
Tell your actors they will be paid for attending Fear School at the end of haunt season. Present it like a bonus they receive. There are plenty of haunts who don't pay their actors unless they complete an entire haunt season. If you do acting awards and/or a wrap party, present Fear School graduation credentials and their pay then.
Yes! We have a separate 4-hour program for haunt managers. This program includes effective coaching techniques, handling "haunt drama," helping actors take direction and more.
Our 90-minute Human Resource course was created after reviewing literally thousands of haunt websites, job application forms, and handbooks. We quickly spotted unfortunate and illegal trends that many haunts are following. For example, 16 percent of all haunts in the U.S. ask for someone's age or date of birth on their job application. Asking for that information violates the Age Discrimination in Employment Act (ADEA) federal law. That is just one example of the corrections our course can bring to your attention. This is the only course that we can deliver either online or in-person and is intended for haunt owners, hiring managers and payroll staff.
Yes! We can come to your haunt and show you one of the most effective methods to audition for actors. Unfortunately too many haunts treat auditions as a warm body showing up, filling out paperwork, and being hired. That is not our process. We conduct this live with your candidates.
